Transformed by Dance: Nikki Crane with Paul Johnson 1/2
Nikki Crane in conversation with Paul Johnson of Dance Ireland. Beginning with a short film, Nikki discusses and explores the history and arts practice of the award winning UK based Dance United, who pro-actively work with young people at risk of offending. Nikki also talked about the value of evaluation and links with academic and state institutions. She described how the company developed evidence based evaluation tools that show how dance does make a difference. She also gave examples of the transformative effects on the young people involved in the project.
This event was the second in a new network that Create is trying to seed: the arts and prisons network. The conversation is of interest to dancers, performers and all those with an interest in art making in the context of arts and prisons.
